Project Background

Approximately 20% to 23% of Mexico’s population lives in “rural areas,” which cover more than 50% of the country’s land area. Many of these areas have complex terrain and poor transportation access.

Client Background

A local Mexican rural government launched the “Rural Housing Program,” urgently needing low-cost, easily transportable, and rapidly deployable housing solutions. The client found us by searching for “vivienda temporal prefabricada,” “casa modular económica México,” and “contenedor habitable expandable 20 pies.” We sent him a catalog of our low-end, mid-range, and high-end products, and the client ultimately decided to choose our simplified 20-foot double-wing expandable housing.

Expandable housing deployment steps

Project Production

First, we use high-quality hot-dip galvanized steel coils produced by our own steel mill for cutting and welding to complete the frame assembly. Simultaneously, we produce our “sandwich panels” consisting of outer panels, rock wool, and inner panels. Next, we prepare 32 types of components, including thermally broken aluminum windows, doors, sockets, and PVC pipes. Finally, we assemble and test the entire assembly.

Assembly process: Frame → Floor → Wall installation → Roof enclosure → Door and window installation.

Functional Testing

We conduct expansion and contraction tests on the assembled twin-wing extended houses, as well as tests on door and window sealing, rainproofing, pressure resistance, fire resistance, and earthquake resistance. This ensures the product provides insulation, soundproofing, and rapid assembly, and is unaffected by long-term use in windy and rainy environments.

  • The wall system achieves a 1-hour fire resistance rating (ASTM E119).
  • Compared to conventional homes, summer air conditioning energy consumption is reduced by 42%.
  • 10-year maintenance-free design; lubrication points are permanently sealed.

Logistics and Transportation

Each house was packaged in different components. One 40-foot high cube container could hold two complete houses. In the end, a total of 33 40-foot high cube containers were used for all the houses. After delivery to the local area, they could be transported using ordinary farm trucks.

Project Summary

This collaboration trained several skilled modular building installation workers in the local area. The client stated that the cost was 35% lower than brick-and-mortar houses, perfectly matching their budget and timeframe. Their 28 workers completed the assembly and testing in 16 days, effectively avoiding road transportation challenges.

Based on this collaboration, we have received similar inquiries from Guatemala, Honduras, and other countries.
