Last month, all 60 expandable homes for Wanzhi Steel’s Argentinian client arrived at the nearest port, and installation began. The client requested two-bedroom, one-living room units, which were shipped in five 40HQ containers.

Client Background
The client is a local property developer who owns land in a satellite city. His target customers for this project are young dual-income families who, due to the lack of flexibility and high price of traditional houses, opted for modern-style extended prefabricated houses that can be folded and expanded and have low construction costs. He initiated a conversation with us via the website and ultimately placed an order for 60 20-foot, 2-bedroom, 1-living-room container houses.

Solution: Tailored to the needs of the Argentine Market
Taking into account Argentina’s climate—hot, rainy summers and cold winters in some areas—we customized the upgrades to the house.
1. Folding and Expanding
The entire house adopts a “main module + double-wing expansion module” structure.
- Folded state (shipping state): Dimensions are 2.3m × 6m × 0.4m, which can be packed into a 40HQ container, with 12 units per container.
- Final area after expansion: After unfolding to both sides, the net interior area reaches 38㎡, including 2 separate bedrooms, 1 living and dining room, 1 open kitchen, and 1 separate wet and dry bathroom.
- Space improvement: The usable area expands from 13.8㎡ to 38㎡, significantly increasing the actual usable space and truly achieving “small volume transportation, large living space”.
- Weight per unit: Approximately 2.2 tons, facilitating hoisting and land transportation.

2. Wall and interior structures for the South American market
- Frame: Hot-dip galvanized steel structure frame, wind resistance up to level 10, corrosion-resistant, deformation-resistant, with a service life of over 15 years.
- Walls: High-density rock wool + moisture-proof layer to resist temperature differences between day and night; roof with a drainage slope to prevent water accumulation and leakage during the rainy season.
- Interior & Configuration: Bedrooms have 3 sockets (1 on each side of the bed, 1 dedicated socket for air conditioner), the kitchen has 4 sockets, the living room has 3 sockets, and the bathroom has 2 sockets.
- Kitchen: Pre-installed gas stove, range hood, and cabinets.
- Bathroom: Dry and wet separation, equipped with a thermostatic shower and water heater, meeting move-in-ready needs.

Customer Feedback
The prefabricated houses cut construction time to 1/5 of traditional builds, reduce costs by over 30%, and shorten the project payback period. We are fully satisfied with the quality and design—choosing these expandable homes was the right call.
The layout is practical, with spacious bedrooms, a bright living room, and complete kitchen & bathroom facilities. The houses stay warm in winter and cool in summer, with low AC energy use.
Why was it “Expansion” that appealed to the Argentine Market?
- Financial Advantages: For buyers, there’s no need for a one-time loan to purchase a 90-square-meter apartment. In an inflationary environment, steel and building materials themselves retain their value.
- Return on Investment: No foundation required, no long-term labor costs, no step-by-step construction, and the building is reusable; constructing a building no longer requires a year.
- Low Maintenance: Due to its overall steel structure, it’s termite-proof and fireproof, making it highly attractive to young Latin Americans who dislike complicated home repairs.
